Thanks Tony, I’ll make sure I post a picture of the flower.

Similarly lovely.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I disagree with this approach to collection numbers, especially on a plant that is more likely to be propagated vegetatively than by seed. Many cacti are variable in form and a collection number can be a very good indicator of which form a plant has.
But, each of us has the right to our opinions within our own greenhouses.

I'm with Chris. This plant might look similar, but to apply the collection number is making a statement that the plant is a vegetative propagation from the original collection. If you don't know that, then don't apply the number.

If it came when a reference keep it ,if it did not you can always put that sort of info on the back of the label and where it was obtained just for future ref.
