Waiting for a specific plant to flower ..... but a surprise instead

Post by el48tel »

Waiting for an Echinopsis flower bud to open for the last few days .... and suddenly the Rebutia pygmaea sends buds and opens.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Very nice rebutia flowers. Echinopsis can take a long time preparing for flowering, then when they decide the time is right it happens very quickly. Be prepared.

Growing a mixed collection of cacti & other succulents; mainly smaller species with a current emphasis on lithops & conophytum.

Rod ... yes although I'm a newbie I did experience that last year .... the day I brought my first expensive purchase home .... it flowered in the boot of the car .... and then the same plant ... the first BCSS meeting I attended ..... I'd waited for weeks for a flower to open .... and three opened whilst I was out from home. I have a bet on .... whilst I am away from home this next few days.

Yup ... usually check when I take the dog down the garden last thing at night ... and no flowers tonight.
