Cactus ID Please

Post by Fletch »

Bought this lovely plant from a nearby garden centre and wondered what it might be. I thought perhaps a Gymnocalycium of some description?

is it G. baldianum?
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I think so. A gymno species with red flowers - unusual (possibly the only species) and a very attractive shade of red too. Mine is just flowering.
Rod Smith

Growing a mixed collection of cacti & other succulents; mainly smaller species with a current emphasis on lithops & conophytum.
