This my reason for actually starting the hobby - saw one flower - fell in love - the rest is history.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

No, and Lobivia winteriana.

I dont need to, in most cases. Most of my Echinopsis offset, from sparingly to too much...
Just plenty of fertiliser seems to do the trick.

However, I had an old Lobivia horrida whose growing point went manky, so I cut the top off, and I reckon I will have a nice new plant and half a dozen for swaps by the end of the year. I also beheaded some old Weingartias a while back. The stumps again produced offsets - although in this case they were very slow and difficult to root down, with quite a few failures.

Cidermanrolls wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2019 8:15 am It has been a good weekend in my, partially shaded, greenhouse too. This view shows 15 Schick hybrids and 2 “multihybrids” in flower this morning.
I bought some Echinopsis hybrids yesterday, but am looking for some particular Schicks. i have a few, and a few of Brian Fearn's from AbbeyBrook. Can you suggest a supplier?
Susan Pink is "winding down" following the passing of her husband. She is pink4520 on eBay and sends out excellent plants, but unfortunately eBay bidders send prices to daft levels sometimes. Other good eBay sellers are bilsdalecactus and spikey.yorkie.
Agreed, these are both good UK based sellers and I have bought some great plants from Susan. Prices on UK eBay can go a bit silly and I have been to blame sometimes. The Schick habit gets addictive.
On the other hand, eBay.de tends not to go so silly and many more sellers use buy it now pricing. I missed out on Pink’s Fond Adieu, but picked it up from Karl Rabsilber for half the price on eBay.de yesterday. Shipping from Germany can add to the cost, so I typically buy a few other plants to spread the cost. I’m now working on his nobility series.....
And today I have managed to arrange to buy one of my ‘missing 9’ for a very reasonable price. Only 8 to go. What will I do then?

I wish you well with your mission. I have had bad eBay experience so I don't go there!

I'll get some, somehow, sometime, somewhere. I have a few ideas.

Just re-read this thread .... @Ralph ... what formulation do you use?

Plenty of rain, but it does not deter these plants from doing their thing. S bruchii is in a 14inch pot, and needs two to lift it lol, M theresea has only 3 heads, and is on its own roots. Opuntia compressed Monmouth ., nice yellow. Cheers

I use Ericaceous miracle grow fertiliser.

For compost, I use equal parts of
John Innes Ericaceous compost
Coir (reconstituted from blocks)
Granite grit (from the local quarry, 3mm-10mm)
