is this cannibalism

Post by Tina »

Seen at my local supermarket- would it be classed as cannibalism if your an agave grower.
I couldn't buy it in the end as I know the plants must have died I wonder how many agave's make a litre ? or is it from pollen - showing my ignorance here

That is probably a better end than being turned into a plastic !
( viewtopic.php?f=1&t=168440&hilit=plasti ... ic#p279985 )

Hmmm, looks like a plastic bottle though, I wonder how many of it's cactus cousins were sacrificed to that end

Dare one ask how much it cost ? must be a niche market ??

At least Silver Spoon is a UK product and it is more than likely that they were UK or EU grown.
But what percentage .... and what else is in said product?
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Steady, Tiger!
Neither was I. And as for the chance to "debate internationalism nor encourage trade barriers" ... no way José.
I was merely pleased to see a UK product.

Hmmm, a UK package is all :-
From the Sainsbury's site for it (the SS site was less navigable :( )

" Country of origin: Mexico
Packed in: United Kingdom

Produce of Mexico. Packed in the UK "

and from Wiki
contains some 56% to 60% fructose, 20%
glucose, and trace amounts of sucrose,

and the heat treatment will have eliminated any of the supposed health benefits of the Agave

and it is still raining :(

I retract my humorous comment - in disgust!

As for the weather - two friends of ours have come from California with aged mother to visit relatives and spend a few days in Scarborough ---- it'll be bracing if nothing else!
