Thanks and duly noted not to buy that genus.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

It would be a shame to ignore Frailea. There are some real gems there, beautiful miniatures, for example F. asterioides which Terry S. mentioned. And a favourite of mine, F. buenekeri ssp. densispina. They don't take up much room!

Hmm.
Anyway to the point, re seed setting this author is quite clear that Frailea set seed copiously UNLESS the flower opens, in which case no seed can be expected. I hadn't heard this expressed before.

Re: First Frailea flower open this year
I was going to add stage directions and a list of sound effects to my earlier post. I am going for a cold shower instead.

Re: First Frailea flower open this year
I had two in flower yesterday - although the labels have faded, I think the left one is F. knippeliana and the right one is F. phaeodisca. Hot humid weather seems to be the stimulus they need to produce proper flowers.
