Recently I visited Ralph's collection in Wales and he very kindly gave me a few pieces of this mesemb that had become detached from a plant growing in his garden.

I shoved the bits into a pot and left it outside with my outdoor Opuntia bowls. Very surprised today when I got home to see that the mesemb stems were flowering with wonderful white flowers.

Does anyone know what it might be please (Ralph doesn't know either).

That's as much as I could come up with. Not one of the obvious ones, so you might struggle to get a more precise name.

I have an identical plant labelled Oscularia caulescens. Of course I have not looked it up to see if mine is correctly named!

There is a 5-locule seed capsule visible which would fit for Lampranthus or Oscularia. However the stamens are radiating rather than in a tight cone around the stigma; this should rule out Oscularia according to "Mesembs of the World". Both stamen formations can be found in Lampranthus.

This probably doesn't help with ID, but here's my plant doing its stuff. It's hardy, and lives outside the front of the house. (Ignore the leaves - they belong to a Japanese Quince which it is outcompeting!)

I have Oscularia deltoides which looks very simular in leaf shape, but with lilac flowers.

I'm pretty sure it's not Oscularia deltoides, as that has triangular, toothed leaves, and this doesn't.
