Today's flowers

Post by Diane »

The last few weeks of cold, wet weather haven't been very conducive to cacti flowering, but I have a few nice ones from today.

This is my "Old Faithful" Mammillaria theresae, which is at least 30 years old, with at least 17 heads and almost certainly a Pete 'n' Ken plant and in a 7" (18cm) pan:

Mammillaria guelzowiana finally decided to put out a ring of flowers:

A few Echinopsis hybrids are in flower, these two took my eye (2nd day for both) Echinopsis Schick hybrid 'Gossamer':

Excellent! How do you get your black backgrounds in your photos? I used to use an old tee-shirt, but it went grey in the sun...

Ralph, it's black velvet, (silk is best if you can get it - it doesn't reflect light). It's actually an old blouse !!

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
