A new Ariocarpus species?

No, its Mammillaria longimamma. I thought the pot looked to be straining at the seams.

That is one heck of a big rootstock.

Should the name be longituber?
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Is this related? Currently in mammillaria, but the text says newer works are putting it in Anhalonium.

Is there a second edition? I missed that
Its frontispiece crows "Profusely illustrated" and the drawings are rather superb!

Looks very similar. I'll change the label to Anhalonium longimamma in anticipation.

Re label change, over forty years ago when I become interested in cacti I went to a branch show. I purchased one plant that looked very nice to me. The label meant absolutely nothing to me at all. A few years later I had my first flowers, I was delighted. A fellow grower identified the plant as a Mamm. Later he put a name to it, longimamma. A few more years past, and when it was repotted I found the label, it read Ariocarpus sp. lol. Cheers
