Big-flowered Copiapoa
Copiapoa grandiflora by name, Copiapoa grandiflora by nature
This one would have looked even more impressive if you could tell there were three flowers

Re: Big-flowered Copiapoa
That's nice. I'm a fan of copiapoa flowers but I find the plants themselves can get a bit manky over the years. Perhaps it's just the way I treat them.

Hi,
Yes a great flower but like Rod I find they never last more then a few years and do get a bit tatty! Perhaps they need a bit more shade then I give them!

Copiapoas don't have to get tatty at the base, but they can do and they grow quite slowly so they show any damage for a long time.

Re: Big-flowered Copiapoa
Here is my old Cop. taltalensis around thirty year old, and confined to its pot as I have no room for if I re potted it. The base does not look tatty in my opinion, but it's no show plant for sure lol. Cheers

Grand flower indeed iann.
Glad to see the forum back up! I kept getting an error message when checking in from my old bookmark, but snuck in by accident.
Copiapoa haseltonia in (large) flower from a couple days ago. One I grew from seed in 1992 or so. Fast grower!

Goodness that's an amazing plant DW, I've had one of these for years and it's still a single head. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, or you have better conditions there. Whatever the reason, it's great to see.

Re: Big-flowered Copiapoa
Here's a shot of my few copiapoa, has anyone got an idea for ID on the lime green one, sold to me as c cinerea but it's such a different colour I'm doubtful but it does look the right shape.

Re: Big-flowered Copiapoa
Tina; I think it is C. cineracens and not cinerea ( faded label ? )
DW; Beautiful plant, I have a few of these under the name C haseltoniana var.gigantea grown from seed and they are all starting to offset around the base, if one looks like yours in a few years I will be more than happy.
