any idea
Can anybody tell me what this plant is? it is in a 12inch pot about 10years old.

Looks very much like one of the many forms of Agave parryi, quite possibly ssp neomexicana.
And a very nice one, too.

looks like derek bowdery's very beautiful hybrid ( was it vic reg X macroacantha), did you shop at eau brink ?

Yes it was two of dereks agaves that flowered I'm not sure if all the seed was true to this form.
There is also Royal spine which is a lovely similar hybrid, I'll get you a photo tomorrow.

Hello Tina the label says Polyanthoflora? but who knows? I can see alot of confusion ahead with all the hybridising

Your plant most certainly is not polianthiflora, Brian - that has very pronounced marginal fibres and white bud printing. It really does look like what I imagine a cross between vic-reg and macroacantha would look like!
