Cleistocactus ID

Post by MikeT »

I acquired 2 different Cleistocacti from a collection rescue last year, both 5 - 6" fet high. There were no takers when I took then in to a Sheffield branch meeting, so they were donated to the cactus bed at the Sheffield Botanical Gardens. One has celebrated by flowering. Any suggestions, please, as to which species it is?

Thanks, Phil & Ray
We'll get it's official plant label printed.

Mike: there's a main stem about 5' high, with a side shoot from the base, about 15" high, and it's this which is flowering, no sign of flowers on the main stem. Hopefully once it's properly bedded in, given it's free root run, there'll be even more flowers, on both stems.
