I acquired this cactus at a branch meeting amongst others but without labels. I think it is a Stenocactus ... could anyone confirm and perhaps add a species name please?
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Young Stenocactus are hard to ID, but if you want a name I would say one of the many forms of S. crispatus or maybe S. multicostatus.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Ray - that's where my attention was drawn in my cactus dictionary.

I would go with crispatus too.

Growing a mixed collection of cacti & other succulents; mainly smaller species with a current emphasis on lithops & conophytum.

If it were multicostatus I'd expect it to have more ribs.
