Faucaria felina

Post by Bonsai2 »

Hello
My Faucaria felina flowered for the first time last week after being in large bud for almost 6 weeks. Is it normal for a felina to be in large bud for that length of time. The plant is situated in a glass roofed south east facing porch and gets the morning sun.

Nice looker
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

In my admittedly limited Faucaria experience, waiting ages to catch a flower open seems to be a feature, well it is with my F. paucidens grown from BCSS seeds. Some of my earlier flowering ones opened in the green house before Christmas so I brought a couple of later ones into the house hoping to enjoy the flowers on the kitchen window sill, somehow I missed seeing them fully open which is slightly annoying.

Yours looks great though, well worth the wait.
Regards Keith.
