Nice one Ian, I'll have to get me some of them.

It smells very nice, but look at the gravel, it has very small heads and usually forms a mat.

Hi Roy,
I had noticed that it was a small plant and thought it might go nice in my 'cono trough'. Does it spread quickly and does it have simular watering requirements as cono's?
Thanks in advance

This is a six month old seedling, but it is a tiny plant even when mature. It compares well with Conos for height but spreads into much wider mats. It is a high summer grower so probably not best in a Conophytum trough. Anything is possible though! It is extremely hardy if kept very dry, but needs a little water if kept above freezing. The flowers have a fruity smell, some say pineapple but its more complex than that. Individually not overpowering but a patch of flowers will fill a greenhouse.

Tending more towards cacti :D, particularly Gymnocalyciums, Rebutias, Sulcorebutias, Echinopses, Thelos, Feros and Mamms (and anything else I like the look of!) all in an 8 x 6 polycarb greenhouse and a few windowsills!

I have a few of these I was given last year, and they seem very tough little critters. They've been outside in pots with my Sempervivums since June and spreading fast. Happy to distribute a few cuttings if anyone wants to email me.

Stomatium alboroseum, started under lights in my propagator, very spindly:

Grown on in full sun, much better:

No flowers yet! Flowers are one of the best reasons to grow this genus.
