Today

Post by iann »

Got the chance to browse some nice flowers today. Warm and even some sun at lunchtime.

Turbinicarpus lophophoroides. This old time hasn't flowered prolifically but it did once throw up four flowers on the same day to show who's the boss. Tina's little three-year-old with the pink flowers just puts up one flower after another almost without a break.

Thelocactus setispinus, just the one flower today, might not have time to produce any more this year.

Turbinicarpus schwarzii, not quite prolific but a steady stream of flowers.

Turbinicarpus klinkerianus. The three heads don't produce flowers in sync but occasionally they all get it together :)

Almost a flower on Haworthia truncata.

Drosanthemum hispidum in the garden has looked like this since early spring. You can hardly see the leaves for buds and spent flowers.

Little Ectotropis alpina is very enthusiastic once it starts.

The buds are almost nicer than the flowers on Gymnocalycium vatteri

Flowering seem to be done now the heat is over, but even the spent flowers are pretty.

This Lithops is about spent. I held it in the cool so it would flower at the branch meeting on Monday and it just keeps hanging on by its fingernails.

And what flower show would be complete without Frithia pulchra.

Tending more towards cacti :D, particularly Gymnocalyciums, Rebutias, Sulcorebutias, Echinopses, Thelos, Feros and Mamms (and anything else I like the look of!) all in an 8 x 6 polycarb greenhouse and a few windowsills!
