Floral Hall Inverness

Post by SteveH »

Just been holidaying in the Highlands. This is a short walk from the city and is run by the council, as well as a tropical greenhouse there's this fantastic dry section, all credit to the Highland branch of the BCSS for its maintenance.

This plant wasn't laberlled, can anyone from the Highland branch identify it, or does anyone else know which part of the Opuntia family it belongs to? (at least I think it's an Opuntia)

Hi Steve,
Not an opuntia at all, but rather a Trichocereus bridgesii monstrose....

And because there is already a (different) Echinopsis bridgesii you may find it listed as Echinopsis lageniformis monstrose.
Phil Crewe, BCSS 38143. Mostly S. American cacti, esp. Lobivia, Sulcorebutia and little Opuntia
