Helo,
I'm new here, it's a great forum.
My question is about the williamsii and astro ornatum.
How should i grow them? direct light? shade?
a regular nursery soil is enough or should i replace it?
What is the color of the williamsii flower? becouse i understood the williamsii can bloom only a pink-white flower...
also, maybe you can help my once and for all identify this lophphora..
wiliamsii? difossa? fricii?
THANK's!

Re: Lophphora Williamsii+astrophytum
Hi Biskvit
Welcome to the forum.
Lophophoras and astrophytum like well drained compost I use a loam based mixed 50:50 with alpine grit. As both these also like limestone I add gypsum chippings to the compost as well. I water during the summer when the plant compost has dried out.

It might be best to say what part of the world you are in - conditions vary so much.

Re: Lophphora Williamsii+astrophytum
Hey there Biskvit, I'm a relative beginner to the hobby having only been growing for roughly 4 years seriously. However I can happily say that both of these plants have given me no trouble whatsoever, the ornatum is an easy plant to grow anyway.
I grow them in a 50:50 mix of John Innes no:2 and fine grit, the Lophophora I keep high up on a shelving unit and the Astro sits on the staging. Both get watered well roughly once a week (if they are dried out) and aren't allowed to sit in standing water for too long.
The Lophophora has flowerered each year so far and hopefully will do for many years to come.
Good lucik with yours - Mat
