overcoming self incompatibility

Post by Phil_SK »

I was wondering if anybody had any experience of trying to get seed from a single [cactus] plant that would normally be self-incompatible. There was mention in another thread of using Herreanthus to make a single Lithops set seed. What pollen have you tried with which plants? Did it fail or succeed?
I don't have a particular candidate in mind, just curious for future reference.

Phil Crewe, BCSS 38143. Mostly S. American cacti, esp. Lobivia, Sulcorebutia and little Opuntia
