Asklepios 96

Post by Rob »

Hi All

Any IAS members recieved issue 96 yet? I dont seem to have done. 95 has a cover date of April2006, so I should think maybe I should have.

I really must devise a system of some sort to keep track of what Journals are due when and whether they have come!
Alison says I cant keep track because I take TOO MANY! but there ARE some I dont subscribe to, so she cant be right.

Hello Rob & other Stapeliaddicts,

The last Asclepios I received was also no.95.

Surely one can't get too many c&s journals? It's good to have some serious stuff to compliment this Forum froth!

Best wishes,

Nice!

Happy carrier of Forby Disorder - an obsession with Euphorbia obesa.

NB. Anyone failing to provide a sensible name for me to address them will be called, or referred to, as Fred.

Please don't misuderstand - a specialist journal and a web email forum both have different strengths and weaknesses. I am not a botanist either and like/need them both! If anyone thinks this Forum is a modern (& free?) replacement for specialist horticultural journals, they are missing a lot.

Take heart Stephen, a guy was stating on cacti ect the other day "Also, realize there are now very few professional scientists studying
cactus taxonomy. There are probably 1000 times as many people working in
the advertising agency selling Coca-Cola worldwide as there are
professional botanists studying cacti worldwide."
Can you imagine the ramifications of that? If, in the early part of the last century, the cacti guys had been in the majority and of the same frame of mind as the Coca Cola guys, Father Chrismas could have been dressed in green and covered in spikes instead of the Coca Cola promotional colours of red and white (true). I don't think many kids would have wanted a hug!
The mind boggles!!!!!

Sorry to drag up this old thread again, but has Asklepios 96 raised it's head at all ??

Haven't recieved it down here yet, and I think they'll be pushing it to have 96 and 97 out by the end of the year...LOL

(I know it's not a BCSS thing, but remembered this thread and thought I'd check whether it was just me missing out before making "official" enquiries !)

Thanks,

Trevor

Nope, I'm in the UK and haven't recieved it yet. Seriously considering not re-subscribing now, as sadly have to be choosy with journals due to financial constraints.
