Re: Variegated Ledebouria socialis
Hi Leonet,
I like the red gravel it is a nice contrast with the plant and displays it well. The " normal plant" sells quite well at the displays we put on to raise money for the branch.

It is a beautifully coloured plant. The younger leaves having a tinge of pink to them.
And presentation is everything! Roy, get some red gravel for the next sale..

Re: Variegated Ledebouria socialis
I have never seen a variagated form of this above-ground bulb in cultivation before - very attractive - but I hate the red gravel - better for tropical fish!
I've seen this species growing several times in the Eastern Cape in habitat in South Africa. It likes shady cliffs with moss or underneath large bushes between rocks. It's very easy to cultivate, like many of the plants from this area, getting a bit of water all year round.
Best wishes,
Derek Tribble,

Hehe, Derek. I don't like technicolour fish tanks. My goldfish were in boring gravel, it was probably kinder to their eyes.
Unlike this poor cichlid... (sorry, this reminded me and I could not resist posting it!)

Hi Leonet,
Nice plant. The sun definitely pinkens up the tips - this one has had a summer of Spanish sunshine! Although the photo is a bit dark the colours are true.
