Hello everyone,

Just been to work,i was looking at the tv guides for next week.In the Mail on Sunday tv guide for Tuesday it shows a picture of a Melocactus with 2 lizards on it.The pick of the day is called Wild Caribbean on Tuesday 21:00 on BBC2.It is about the wildlife and plantsin the Caribbean,it is going to show a island called Bonaire which has little to eat but cactus fruit for the lizards to feed on.So it may show some plants and the environment they live in.

Nobody watch it and see the lizards eating the Melocacti fruit.

Anyone know what the cereus was?

On again next week.

Hi Vic,

Unfortunately I didn't see the prog., but if the cereoid was a native it's unlikely to have been Cereus because my recollection is that this genus isn't native to the Caribbean region. More likely to be a Pilosocereus. Do you know which island(s) we're talking about?

Did any agaves features by any chance, 'cos there are quite few species recorded from the Caribbean?

Hi Colin,

Yes possibly Pilosocereus. I can't remember the name of that particular island so will have to watch it again.

I did notice some Agave type plants in some of the aerial footage etc.

I just saw a programme on the Caribbean where a lizard ate cacti fruit... must be the same one.

The time between repeats is getting shorter and shorter!
