I am going to Japan for several weeks in April and May, and would like to see some good collections of cacti and other succulents while I am there - botanic gardens, specialist nurseries, and private collections (if open to individual visitors). Any recommendations, including locations and contact addresses, please?
I shall be based in Tokyo most of the time, but also visiting Kochi (Shikoku), Nara (near Kyoto), Kitakami (450 km N of Tokyo), and Sapporo (Hokkaido).
I am [articularly keen to see the local East Asian succulents, if possible in the wild as well as in collections - e.g. species of Orostachys, and especially the variegated cultivars of O. malacophylla (iwa-renge).

Re: Contacts in Japan
Hi John,
Perhaps you could do a websearch (on Cactus Mall) for Japanese nurseries and contact them through their websites. I am sure they would laso be willing to put you in contact with local growers.
