Nursery

Post by Lindsey »

I enjoyed the Greenhouse/Nursery quiz when I looked at it at work today... it is permitted ;) I recognised Holly Gate, should have known Abbey Brook but didn't, and am resolved to visit Eau Brink ASAP.

Found Eau Brink on the Cactus-mall but there isn't a plant list. Is this because it is out of season? Might I find mesembs, Ceropegias, Adromischus there? Does Derek Bowdery do mail order?
Ever hopeful, trying to grow plants from arid sunny climates in the UK!
Lithops, Haworthia, Adromischus, other south African succulents including Ceropegia and some Crassula.

yep that sounds about right, i was there last summer and what i saw was mainly cacti (but then my main interest is cacti so i was'nt really looking for succulents) although he did say that a lot of the agave were outside behind the greenhouse at the time.

the reason he has no email address or website is because he's a bit off the beaten track and has a shared or party phone line (he was telling me he used to work for BT)

see my posting at cactiguide at the time

Hi Chris,

That's excellent news. More agaves everywhere so say I!!!

Having said that, 'tis years since I visited Derek Bowdery (not to be confused with our Tribble!) at Eau Brink - how's about this as a venue for a Forum outing? Kings Lynn isn't that far, at least from here!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has, as has already been said, cacti, but also loads of the REAL plants, i.e. senocot Agaves, for those of us with more discerning tastes!!!!!!!!!
Cheers,
Colin
