Bill Oddie Back in the USA

Post by phil »

Tonight at 7.00pm on BBC2
I think this is a repeat of Monday?s episode in Arizona. Well worth a look as it has quite a few lovely cactus scenes.

Tending more towards cacti :D, particularly Gymnocalyciums, Rebutias, Sulcorebutias, Echinopses, Thelos, Feros and Mamms (and anything else I like the look of!) all in an 8 x 6 polycarb greenhouse and a few windowsills!

Yes I might watch it again it was very good. Might have made a good action movie if that Gila Monster had clamped on!

Sounds interesting, Ill have to watch out for it down here , but wasn't Bill Oddie one of the Goodies ? "Ecky thump" and all that ? Has he gone all David Attenborough on us or something ????

Yes one and the same Trevor. He's been doing wildlife programmes for years especially bird related as he's an avid bird watcher or birdie as the call them.

Hmmm, now I have visions of him bounding across the desert as one half of a racehorse suit...LOL

Those guys were crazy, and very funny. I guess it's an example of how we never can tell what people are into in there private lives. Like me and many others here, Mild Mannered IT Guy by day, crazed cactusholic by night...LOL

Was this a series ? Like David Attenborough's Planet Earth desert episode or was it a one off show ?

No horse suit Trevor but he did do a rather curious impersonation of a roadrunner in the middle of the desert!!

It's a series, he's in a different state or part of the US each week, 30 mins. Apparently as the Goodies they travelled around the US in the 60's but he never got the chance to do any bird/wildlife watching. Good excuse for an all expenses paid trip back.
