Re: Huernia & co...
Huernia pillansii - some people seem to have a problem growing it - my problem is to stop it growing! no sooner do I repot it than it spreads out to fill the pot. No flowers just yet though.

And now, Tavaresia grandiflora, grown from seed three years ago. Hoping for a flower this year maybe?

What a beautiful flower! Lovely spikies too.

At the moment my wants list is only one plant long and that is Tavaresia grandiflora. Don't see many of them about unfortunately. That is a fine specimen Diane

Re: Huernia & co...
Hi Diane,
I've had a Taravasia for some time that lives on a hot box but it has only flowered once. I grafted a bit and that grew quite well but no flowers yet. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Re: Huernia & co...
Hi, Roy, Tavaresias can be a problem, can't they? You are doing well to keep it for any length of time. I had two of these, the other passed away, I keep it on a "hotplate" in the winter, but it's in the open gh at the moment - it has a little water over the winter to keep the roots ticking over. IMO, it's almost impossible to root cuttings, someone prove me wrong! I have flowered Tavaresias in the past (prob T. barklyii) but they're not the easiest to grow. I think they are intrinsically short-lived. Tom Jenkins had an enormous one many years ago, but then, he was very good at the difficult stuff! Well done, too, at grafting one, never tried it, what's it on? Stapelia something?
Regards, Diane
