I have 3 seedlings of the above which, I think, came from Society seed 2 or 3 years ago.
Unsurprisingly there is no trace of this name anywhere.
Does it ring a bell with anybody else?
It's probably some nondescript Notocactus (or Parodia if you prefer)....
Wigginsia bezruckii

Re: Wigginsia bezruckii
That seems to be it Ray, thanks.
I've found a picture of it under http://www.cs-kaktusy.cz/notosekce/slid ... rucii.html
I must say that my seedlings are far spikier than that picture though. Maybe it changes in the adult form.
Mike.

Re: Wigginsia bezruckii
I seem to have heard the name in the past and may have it in literature somewhere. It may be one of the Czech A. V. Fric's names from the dim distant past.

Re: Wigginsia bezruckii
I found the name at IPNI:
[hr]
http://www.ipni.org/ipni/idPlantNameSea ... t%3Dnormal
Cactaceae Malacocarpus bezrucii Fric.
Published in: Ceskoslov. Zahradnickych Listu [Kakt. Sukk.], 1924, 31 (1924), nomen; cf.Gray Herb. Card Cat., Issue 114.
basionym of: Cactaceae Wigginsia bezrucii (Friè) Fleisch. & Schütz in Friciana, 51: 17, 29, 33, 37 (1976).
basionym of: Cactaceae Notocactus sellowii (Link & Otto) S.Theun. var. bezrucii (Friè) J.Neduchal Minimus 30(2): 30 (1999).
[hr]
So it seems this plant is a form of Parodia sellowii.
Cheers,
