Hi, All.

First flower on this rough looking plant.
Flower tube not as long as some of this type.
Looking in the book it might be E.scheeri.

The flower looks almost identical to the one on one of my plants I picked up last week at Harrogate flower show:

Mine is labelled as Echinocereus coccineus x acifer so presumably yours is a Coccineus, Acifer or both ;)

A quick Google image search shows their flowers as being pretty similar!

Hi Geoff

It looks very much like my Echinocereus salm-dyckianus (which is in the society gallery). I believe that is a synonym for E. scheerii anyway.

From the stem and flower it could be close to E. klapperi:-

Certainly of the E. scheerii group but E. scheerii tends to be a pinker flower.

Just checked out this site.

This is close but flower tube still a bit to long.

Or if the flower colour is really orange, close to E. salmdyckianus
