As this is the travelogue section, I thought it better to put my stuff about Majorca here. The island was much as I remember it from thirty years ago, except more modernised and lots more hotels and tourism. Off the beaten track it was great, it was a quiet time of year anyway, apart from the CYCLISTs! They were there in the thousand and extremely dangerous on the roads, particularly the mountain roads, which they prefer. However, here are a few shots of the place.

Lovely pics, Liz! Looks as if you had good weather too. We were there in May a few years ago, and the cyclists were a pain then! It's a very popular place for cycling clubs, but accidents are common, especially on the narrower roads, where strings of cyclists go on for ever, and are difficult to pass.
You hit the orchid season just right by the looks of it - we were a little late for them. The last orchid pic is Ophrys speculum, commonly known as the Venus mirror orchid - pollinated by wasps, which it mimics. I wasn't aware there were tortoises in Majorca - though they are native to Minorca.
