This site was very dry and the plants looked as though they needed the expected rain. It was very overcast during our stop and it seemed as though that rain would follow quite soon. Here is Parodia stuemeri v. tilcarense looking as though it would appreciate a drink and a hair wash.

Enormous Gymnos, but I might not have noticed them for staring at the scenery.

And a close up of one in flower. As David noted the whole area was very dusty and it was coating all the plants.

As we exited the area this animal corral caught my eye. Like the 'gate'. [attachment 18172 ffffff1.jpg]

And then it was back on the bus to go and visit a another habitat and a very interetesing plant.
As we joined the main road a chorus of voices persuaded Willy to stop for a photo final opportunity of the seven coloured hills.

The next stop was a lay by just north of Purmamarca. We startled a family who were having a roadside picnic as we pushed through the shrubbery and began to climb the scree slope behind them.
The first thing I noticed was a felled Trichocereus pasacana. It became obvious that the locals harvested them to supply the tourist trade with the skeletons we had seen for sale although Willy told us that they are only supposed to take 'fallen' ones.
