Then it was on to our hotel for the night, the Hotel de Turismo in La Quiaca. The hotel was full of a large group of mad French motorcyclists, mostly middle aged, on some sort of organised rally across Chile and Argentina, on BMW bikes, doing lots of off road. Apparently two of there party were already in hospital with serious injuries! We had trouble getting a table and getting served in the hotel restaurant, as they had comandeered 90% of it, and they rapidly got very merry. They were to cause further problems in the morning as we shall see. So that's it for day 10. See you shortly for day 11 where we run into a Gallic blockade, but get through to find Yavia cryptocarpa and then pick up a happily recovered Mike.

Surely an interesting adventure to tell the grandkids, even if it was not fun at the time. ;)

Your plant is not Rebutia euanthema, I'm pretty sure: that has dark coloured stamens and grows near Tilcara (where I was lucky enough to see it this November).

I think Willy is right about this one being R. pygmaea (and probably haagei).
