Mexico January 2007 Travelogue

I've just finished a travelogue of my most recent Mexico trip, in case anyone is interested in wasting a few minutes.

I'd be pleased to have some firm IDs of the cacti we saw, if anyone knows? I didn't include pics of that many , but have another bucket-full of unkowns as well.

Excellent and totally outstanding trip report!

Anyone know what the plant on the page for the 21st is? Looks like aMamm or a Cory, but can't place it - its the upstanding golden spines that don't fit for me...

You can tell I'm more of a cactus person! but we obviously have a similar taste in statues - I have some of excatly those you have posted - at the Anthopology Museum - fantastic place.

Thanks, Vic, you have it right.
That was one of my possibilities, but my cultivated plant doesn't have spines so dense or so many obvious centrals, but after looking for a while, I found a very similar looking plant on Mammillarias.net, a habitat photo by Michel Lacoste ML63.

Wow, I've read the first few days, sounds a great adventure. I can't get over how huge the plants are! But no Agave americana, like Geoff's.

That eccentric garden must have been incredible, I could have spent days there. It certainly beats Portmeirion.
