Great pics, Vic. Seems that you've got a feronisation.

Tending more towards cacti :D, particularly Gymnocalyciums, Rebutias, Sulcorebutias, Echinopses, Thelos, Feros and Mamms (and anything else I like the look of!) all in an 8 x 6 polycarb greenhouse and a few windowsills!

Gymno

Post by Lindsey »

Wot's the Gymno? (can't read the label in your photo) Looks to me like a denudatum-ish body and a baldianum flower after the roots had had a little drink of blue ink :D
Ever hopeful, trying to grow plants from arid sunny climates in the UK!
Lithops, Haworthia, Adromischus, other south African succulents including Ceropegia and some Crassula.

To be honest Lindsey I don't know, I've zoomed in on the photo to try and read the label but all I can decipher is cv.'?' and KG followed by 3 numbers, I didn't actually read it whilst there just thought the flower colour was interesting.

Cheers Bruce - glad you liked them!

Hi Vic
Great pics and it is a nice place to go but I have never been lucky enought to go when Derek is in
Did you see the Agave in the sales area in a blue barrel (if it is still there)

Regarding the Gymnocalycium: the letters looked like MG to me, making me wonder if it was from Mesa Garden seed. In their catalogue is the following
464-denudatum `Jan Suba' cultivar with huge pink flower 1.00
Phil Crewe, BCSS 38143. Mostly S. American cacti, esp. Lobivia, Sulcorebutia and little Opuntia

Hi Chris,

Cheers! As Nick said you couldn't wish to meet a nicer chap and very knowledgable too, I've met Derek a few times but that was the first opportunity to have a proper chat. There was a large variegated Agave in a blue metal barrel just outside the glasshouse near the sales area. In fact Nick photographed Derek standing behind it, I'm sure Nick will post a pic.
