Besides the species already mentioned, two other cacti grow at this habitat, one being Melocactus bahiensis subsp. amethystinus:

This population of Melocactus ernestii is the form that develops multiple cephalia, and that bears the nomen nudum var. multiceps. This population was decimated a few years ago, when all the plants with cephalium or big enough to produce a cephalium were collected from this site. There were some incredible plants with up to 15 cephalia growing there. I thought that this form was gone from nature, but now I am quite pleased to see that the small seedlings left by the collectors then have grown to maturity, and are now starting to develop multiple cephalia:
