North West Cactus and Succulent Mart

Post by Peter B »

Saturday April 16th 2011

St Thomas More Church Hall, Kirkway, Alkrington, Middleton, Manchester M24 1PP (Manchester Branch's meeting hall which is literally 3 minutes from Junction 20 of M60). Junction 20 is only an exit from the clockwise side of the motorway. Anyone approaching anticlockwise continue to junction 19 and come back to jn 20 clockwise. Turn left onto A664 towards Middleton, take the 2nd turning on the right, Mainway, just after the pedestrian crossing. The church is at the top of the hill on the right and the hall, a wooden structure, is at the side of the church.

Doors open at 10.30am and the mart continues till 3pm.

Nurseries present:
Oak Dene, Croston Cactus, David Rushforth, The Plant Lovers, Rene Geissler, Harry Mays, Richard and Wendy Edginton, Ralph Northcott, Tony Irons, plus several north west and northern local growers plus hopefully one from way further north if he can make it, all with interesting plants. These will be accompanied by Keith Larkin (books) and Philip Barker pots and other bits and pieces. It all has the looks of an interesting and fun day.

Warm food will be on offer along with all the other refreshment trappings until 2pm when the kitchen will shut.

There is plentiful parking nearby, including the roads, for all making the journey from a distance.

According to the calendar of events the start is at 10:00. I presume 10:30 is the correct time because that was the starting time last year.

Interested in cacti (particularly Echinopsis, Rebutia, Sulcorebutia, Lobivia, Gymnos and Chamaelobivia), Stapeliads, Sempervivums, and anything else that takes my fancy.

Just a reminder that the MART is this Saturday. The Calendar of events now shows rthe correct time of opening which is 10.30am. Any reference to 10am is INCORRECT.

Tea, coffee, Bacon butties and other food goodies including, I believe Hot Pot, provided by the good services of Christine Humphreys will be available from the public opening time. It is always a good event so don't miss out.

As Philip is without main telephone services at the moment please phone 0161 643 8932 or 07967 832089, email peter@bint.myzen.co.uk for any help, information about directions or nurseries/sellers available or anything else you want to know.
