A unpleasant shopping from cactusalvaralto.com

Post by Lion »

I make an order from this website: http://www.cactusalvaralto.com, Ricardo Keim Zwanzger, a Chilean.
He looked my order list, and told me that:

Code: Select all

I have looked at what we have from your list and I can send you

6 different var. of Conophytum x 3 = xx portions
11 diferente var of Lithops x3 =xx Portions
Total 51 portions x US$ xx = US$ xx
Then I made direct payments to Ricardo Keim Zwanzger.
When I get the parcel , all of them are not in my order list. And he refused to return it back.
It seems like cheating.
Total, it's an unpleasant shopping.
If you want to order from them ,please be careful.

----------
I add some screen pictures , they are emails between me and him. I think it's enough information.

Hi Lion,

Well, to be honest you actually provide no proof, only what appears to be an edited text. Don't get me wrong, you might be right, but I don't now. However, in this moment you just blame an apparently legitimate nursery man. By posting this you do some damage.

Have you ordered plants or seeds?

Cheers,
Eduart

Yes Lion, eduart is correct. If you blacken somebody's name and their means of making a living on this forum, you should provide more evidence that can prove they did something wrong.

Put yourself in Mr Zwanzger's place: somebody makes a statement on the internet saying that you, Lion, are a cheat, and that you are not to be trusted. There's no proof given, it's just what's stated. You wouldn't like it, would you?

Please give us more information to back up what you say.

What did you receive, and in what quantities? I don't hear you about this. Maybe your order got mixed up, and someone else received your Lithops and Conophytums instead of what they requested. It would be coincidence if you got 51 plants of other mesembs instead of Conophytum and Lithops.

You seem to have asked for A, B and C (all named) and the seller says they can send D, E and F (un-named).

It seems you have agreed to be sent D, E and F (un-named) at the price stated.

In my view the seller is not directly at fault, but perhaps should have taken the time to detail exactly what he was sending.

It is also possible that you could have asked for clarification before paying.

We've all done things similar to this - I know I have.......

I have looked at what we have from your list [which is nothing] and I can send you

6 different var. of Conophytum x 3 = xx portions
11 diferente var of Lithops x3 =xx Portions
Total 51 portions x US$ xx = US$ xx

He has done what he has said (which I have bolded) i.e. looked at your list. There is nothing on your list that he can send so he offers you alternatives, which you accept as an alternative, without checking exactly what you are getting.

It is easily done. [on both sides of the transaction].

I must say the communication from the side of the seller is not really great. I can perfectly understand why Lion thought to get what he requested and was disappointed by what he got.

That the seller stated he had looked at the list is fine to mention (but does not hold any added value really, as if a seller would normally not look at lists of incoming orders...), but then really clearly say you don't have anything left of what is requested anymore. Then it is best to clearly state that you can offer to send something different and explicitly ask if that is okay too.

Especially in international communication it is better to communicate less compact, preferably use two separate sentences in different wording to make one valuable point very clearly. If well written one sentence will implicitly add value to the other, so even those that have a problem understanding the language used might still have a very good chance of understanding what is meant.

Yes the seller should have been more specific what they were sending. But these things happen all the time. I used to get wound up if something went wrong with a transaction. These days if I know I am partly to blame I just write it off and chalk it up as experience. If I know I am 100% blameless then I'll still endeavor to get my money back, with the proviso that I'm not spending hours chasing after a couple of £/$.

Differences of language, culture and expression all play their part, and that's before you start on dishonesty (which can be from both sides). We all know of situations where someone says (or writes) something and means something else entirely.

All the seeds were apparently the same price, which is confusing as I would have thought that the "rare" seeds would be more expensive. Perhaps the rare seeds aren't rare at all over there?

Or you get less seeds of the more rare ones? There are seed sellers out there that price their seeds by the one and other species by the fifties...
