Macclesfield and East Cheshire branch show

Post by Liz M »

It is our show at Wilmslow High school playing fields next Sunday, 10th July, 11am to 5pm. There will the competitive element, with lots of well-grown plants and the sales side, with loads of cacti and succulents of all sizes and good prices. Come along and say 'hallo' and buy a plant.

Regretfully, this has been cancelled this morning, due the torrential rain which has fallen. The event takes place on school playing fields and the show committee have to make it good again after the show. As a lot of vehicles go on there, it is hazardous to allow them on in such conditions. We have had this happen three times now, is it third time lucky?

Ah what a shame Liz  That's a few of us needing a new plan for tomorrow and I feel for all the organisers and sellers too.

Do you think it will be rescheduled?

Hi Cav, It won't be rescheduled, as it takes place within the Wilmslow Show and it is that that is cancelled. We don't have time to reschedule with the Tatton Show the week after next and the National Show in mid-August. It's tough for all the trade stands and acts that were booked but you cannot do much on a soggy field.

Sorry to hear that, Liz, it has happened to us over the years at our local Village Show.
But today, at the Waltham Forest Show, it was warm and dry with no rain and a little sun.
Also, the sales are on concrete hard-standing rather than grass
