Tom Hart Dyke at Rother Valley Branch

Post by Werewolf »

Rother Valley Branch is looking forward to welcoming Society patron Tom Hart Dyke on Thursday 9th May. Tom is the heir to Lullingstone Castle in Kent, where he has built up the wonderful World Garden, a fascinating display of all kinds of plants arranged geographically and which includes greenhouses with bedded cacti and succulents.

Tom is a self-confessed cactus nut but to the general public, he is perhaps best known for his adventures in Colombia, which included a long spell in captivity after being kidnapped by rebel fighters and it was during this time that the idea of the World Garden was conceived. Tom will be sharing these and many more stories in his own ebullient, hugely entertaining and humorous style.

The meeting starts at 7:30 and there will be free refreshments. Admission is free for BCSS members but there will be a charge of £5 for non-members.

Rother Valley Branch meets on the second Thursday of each month at Sedlescombe Village Hall, Sedlescombe, East Sussex, TN33 0QP.
