Better make that a dry and cold winter, will be the experience of most. Although most cacti survive a winter without soil, hang upside down in a dark closet, too...!AnTTun wrote:I've been taught that most of cacti preffer dark & cold winter.

Re: Hello again!!!!
Hello Sue!I would suggest that the plants you keep in the bedroom (room temperature)should have a light watering every five-six weeks during winter.Since it is so warm in a room the plants will not go totally dormant (as in a greenhouse) but will continue to grow-albeit very slowly-so they will need some water. Since they recieve some sun there seems to be no risk of etoliation. Personally I have the "Brazilians" in my flat, since they don´t stand the greenhouse temperature (4C.)and both they and some" cabbages" get some water all winter long and I have yet to lose a plant from that.
Good luck with your reborn interest!

Thord thank you for your advice. Yes a light watering will keep them going. In fact that room gets to feel like a greenhouse in itself!
