Hi

I have now got the time to devote to the cultivation of succulents, something I have always had an interest in. I am a complete novice and have read a fair bit on the subject but now need to get going. I hope to pick up some valuable tips/guidance on the forum and when I feel confident enough join a local group (Leeds or York).

Thanking you all in anticipation.

John

Hello John and welcome to the Forum. I may be biased, but you couldn't have chosen a better hobby! and I feel sure that you will soon be completely hooked. Do you have a particular interest at present and will you grow your plants in a greenhouse? Please do go along to your local branch soon, there is no better way to learn, to acquire new plants and to make friends. Don't forget that even the 'old hands' had to start sometime. Enjoy your plants.

I have no particular interest at the moment though I am sure that will evolve over time. I have a reasonable sized greenhouse which I have just cleared out ready to start.

Thank you for your advice and encouragement

Hi! I have just started attending Leeds branch meetings again. I think the branch has a few members who are quite new or are returning to the hobby.

Thanks Kathy,

As I live in Wetherby it is a toss-up between York or Leeds (decisions, decisions)

A decision I will need to make when I actually apply for Society Membership (I will do that in the next week)

Is the Leeds Branch very active and well attended?

and you get a tea/coffee and biscuits if there is any all the details are here http://www.leeds.bcss.org.uk/
