Hi,
I have recently become interested in collecting all sorts of cacti, and have about 50 plants so far..... including Mammallaria, Gymnocalycium, Echinopsis, Rebutia, it’s a very addictive pastime and I will run out of space soon!
I bought a Gymnocalycium many years ago from a garden centre labelled Damsqii but I am not sure if this is correct.
Can anyone help, photo attached?
Nicola

Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure about the ID of your plant. It looks like a gymnocalycium but doesn't really look much like damsii. Could be a hybrid.

Welcome to the Forum Nicola, most people here would agree that we have a very little addictive hobby! I agree with you Rod about your plant, it doesn't really look like damsii, which I have grown for quite some years. Enjoy your plants.

Hello Rod and Juster,
Thank you for the welcome and suggestions re the real identity of the “Damsii”, much appreciated

Hi Nicola
G. damsii was put into G. anisitsii and is now usually called Gymnocalycium anisitsii subsp. damsii.
But to be honest your plant looks more like a straight anisitsii which has been getting just a bit to much sun.
Here is what a mature Gymnocalycium anisitsii should look like.
