Hi! I’m 24 and have been passionately growing cacti since I was 18!

Currently living in the Peak District between Sheffield and Manchester but I’m originally from Hampshire.

My collection focus is growing more and more towards echeverias and tricho or other columnar cereus types with a few aloe, aeonium and agave thrown in.

Anyone else here that’s under 30? I don’t know a single person my age who’s interested in plants let alone cacti/succulents I always have loads of plant pups to give away but never any good homes for them.

I'm a newbie enthusiast but an oldie by age ... and understand what you are saying. This issue has been raised as a thread elsewhere on the forum.
I often visit AbbeyBrook Cactus Nursery in Darley Dale when I am in the area ..... and often see people of the teen to forty group .... don't get too despondent.

As the quote says, "You are not alone".

There are several regulars at Sheffield branch meetings who are under 30.
35 years ago, so was I (just).
You should be getting a Sheffield Branch programme by email or through the post in a few weeks time. Our final meeting of 2019 on Friday 14th is our AGM & branch social, so the one meeting of the year without plants. Most meetings there are plants for sale (including cold hardy), so worth noting the second Friday of each month in your diary for next year.

At succulent fairs I see many visitors that are in their twenties or thirties.

It's a fair where they sell plants. Much cheaper and much much much more interesting plants than any garden centre will offer.

If you live not far from the Belgium border, you might like to put the ELK in the second weekend of September high on your list to visit.

When I was a spring chicken there was no internet. Books in the library and experienced growers being the only source of information available.

Both of my boys are BCSS members and attend the meetings, they are both 13 and are slowly enlarging their collection.
