March 2019 - Patterns

Post by el48tel » Sat Mar 02, 2019 9:55 am

I thought we'd go on a different type of theme for March.
My theme is "Pattern" - so I'm thinking the lovely mathematical shapes which our cacti have in their ribs, between tubercles, in the spine patterns, in the spine distribution, the scales on the flower buds, the petal arrangements, etc. So I'm not so much interested in species or genera --- just "patterns".
Beginning a new journey of discovery as I grow cactus seeds and offsets for the first time; discover all kinds of wonderful plants in Cactus Nurseries; just love Echinopsis, Lithops, Aeoniums and Gymnocalycium .... and....and ....

Here’s a montage of close-ups showing the beautiful symmetry of nine cacti. Who can name them all?!

I'm breaking my usual pattern of posting right at the end of the month. But here are a few patterns.
