A Thelocactus I obtained a year ago. Never realised the roots of a Thelocactus could be so tuberous.

Divide and multiply... no square roots here
Ever hopeful, trying to grow plants from arid sunny climates in the UK!
Lithops, Haworthia, Adromischus, other south African succulents including Ceropegia and some Crassula.

Aloe Aloe,
this Aloe has just decided to grow & was chucking its gravel over the edge of the pot, I'm not surprised now I have had a peek

I wish my Haworthias would do that
John, what do you feed your plants on?! I thought it was phosphorus that's good for roots... burying a whole box of matches in the pot, maybe?

Re: August 2011 Photo Competition - Back to Roots
Jim,
I spent this afternoon chopping up two old Adromischus schuldtianus plants. For those not in the know, these have superb tuberous roots. I put my resulting 20 or so cuttings in a shady place for the stems to dry, then a trip down the garden to our compost heap for recycling the pieces of root ...
... then I remembered this month's competition theme
