Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia
I love Euphorbias and unfortunately I have too many pics to choose from, so I will post 4 of them. As this is not fair, I will not partecipate at the contest, just show them to you, enjoy!

Wow Eve, you sure have some lovely species and also great photo-skills. Looking at the other photocompetitions I believe that it is allowed to post several pictures, so I regard your pictures as valid contest material!I love Euphorbias and unfortunately I have too many pics to choose from, so I will post 4 of them. Now that it's the last day, I'll post some pictures myself, obviously NOT valid contest material
This obesa is the only picture of a plant of my own, the following ones aren't my own, but there are never too many Euphorbia pictures on a forum!
E. schoenlandii @ Kokerboom nursery in Vanrhynsdorp, SA
E. coerulescens @ Kokerboom nursery in Vanrhynsdorp, SA
E. valida? @ Kokerboom nursery in Vanrhynsdorp, SA
E. venenata @ Kirstenbosch conservatory, SA
E. mauritanica @ Kirstenbosch, SA
E. gorgonis @ Kirstenbosch conservatory, SA
Cheers

Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia
Hallo Günther, danke für die Blumen! Of the plants I posted, only E. brachyphylla flowered for me, E. gilbertiana is in fact an Euphorbia charles-wilsoniana that I bought flowering , sorry for the wrong name . That E. francoisii is not mine, though I tried very hard to get it
Thanks for including my pics, if wanted, I could add some more, but next month...
Yours are great pics, E. coerulescens is phantastic, I wonder how the couloring would be if cultivated in Europe. But you can tell us maybe
Tschüss
Eve

Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia
Well, I don't think anyone will post any pics anymore now, so it's time to judge.
First I'd like to thank everyone for sharing their pictures.
It was very hard for me to choose between pictures of Euphorbia's because they are all awesome, but I narrowed it down to the following 3:
Angie's E. aeruginosa, because aeruginosa's are awesome and it's a nice brightly colored picture;
Phil's E. decaryi because it's a good picture of that species and it's also pretty much my favorite Euphorbia species;
and Eve's E. brachyphylla flowers which look really awesome and are of poster quality.
But after careful consideration the winner of this months competition is Angie's Euphorbia aeruginosa!
Cheers

About the colour of the E. coerulescens. My plant's new growth isn't reddish at all, but on page 2 of the very first photo competition (subject: spines) Acid John shows his plant that does have the red colour in the new growth!

Hi Günther,
Thank you for choosing my picture
Your pictures are great too, my favourite there is the E. Valida, those red spines are wonderful.
I guess that means that I have to choose this months subject. I'll announce it later, got to get my thinking cap on first.

Well done, Angie! There were some awesone plants here, but I look forward to this month's competition, as the October one passed me by as I had no suitable euphorbias to contribute!

Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia
Congratulations Angie, that one was my favourite too.
I sowed E. schoenlandii this march and three germinated, now two are alive and restarted growth after summer dormancy. I hope they'll become like the one in your photo one day Günther.

@Angie: Also my congrats ! Maybe you can tell me what that transparent sort of snail on your E. aeruginosa is? A drop of water sliding down the stem?
@Günther: The E. brachyphylla is very pleased with your comment
