Thank you Tina for explaining the obvious  to David. All in the spirit of the new Forum logo etc.

Owt int sun is all it is. Just remember it is supposed to be a photographic competition, and there are some superb photographers on this forum - so not just any old picture that fits. That is why I have made it a broad subject.

Hi Sachi
I'm impressed with the pterodiscus flower, I've had a couple of these & killed them. How long have you had it.

Hi Phil
How's the casualties ?.

Hi Tina,

thank you. That plant is probably the hardest I've ever grown, and worse, I acquired it when I was quite 'new' at this kind of thing . After a long battle with spider mite and mealybug it finally went to the compost heap in the sky. Sad to see it go as it was totally gorgeous!

I may try again with Pterodiscus, as they are really nice plants, but keeping them pest free is just

Lovely pelargonium! (I have a real soft-spot for the more succulent geranium/pelargoniums, just need to find out which are the most caudexiferous (is that even a word?))

Hi Sachi
Pelargonium oblongata looks like a sprouting conker, I'm not sure how big the caudex gets or even if you would call it one.

Yes but not many cacti flower in winter, sun or not Tina. My question was does the plant have to be in flower at present on a sunny day to be eligible, or can it be cacti taken on a sunny day earlier last year? If it means Succulents in flower at present that rules out most cacti. Ambiguous titles without clarification can be misleading, "Succulent Flowers" for instance can mean flowers on succulent plants, or very fleshy flowers on any plant!

If the intention was Winter Flowering Succulents, Liz's title here would have been clearer:-

Found a few more Crassulas with buds so should be able to get some more flower shots later in the month...

To be honest Dave I think you are being picky the title says it all "Succulent flowers in the sun", apart from fitting the subject title and it being your own photo there are no other rules for these competitions, its supposed to be a bit of informal fun!
