Those grass-like spines on T. flaviflorus are really something!
Yellow flowers are not too comon in Mammillaria, aren´t they? here is one

Wonderful specimen of both species, lithos!
The flowers of Ortegocactus are such a shiney rich yellow,- making them difficult to photograph because of the strong reflections.
May happen with some Thelocactus too

Thank you Jens - the pictures were taken with an old Olympus OM10, with the standard 50mm lens reversed and taped onto a cardboard tube which was taped to the camera body - real high tech! but it was 26 years ago :smile:
