This is just a very young plant and the number of flowers will increase from year to year. The plant is dormant from Autumn through to January when new young shoots will sprout from the caudex. The leaves are very soft and velvety to the touch and as can be seen the flowers are the most vivid orange. As with other plants the caudex will grow more quickly if kept buried during the growing season. This is a very easy plant to care for and even I have not managed to kill it off yet!
Into all sorts of exotic plants but with only having a conservatory I prefer to buy small young plants and miniature cacti.

That Sinningia is neat. I think everyone should have Lithops but they probably already do :) So I'll recommend a not-so-common but not difficult cactus: Acharagma roseana.

I think everyone should grow Eriosyce and Turbinicarpus and Echinocereus, but I think most people grow them. Sooo....

Pleiospilos nelii. These are not very impressive plants, until they flower. The color is very intense.

I have one of those! Still a seedling, and with two little leaf pairs. But then again, the pot mine is sitting in is much bigger than yours, at the looks of it. You haven't provided a lot of room for the taproot? Or have you found it unnecessary to provide much room?

It's a 10cm pot, standard depth. The 'wingspan' of the leaves is 39 cm, sown March 2010, so it's not stunting it at all
I'll send you a PM to avoid going too far off topic...
