Peter Cupial-Jones wrote:Very ordinary I know, but couldnt resist posting when the flower came out this morning in the conservatory. It is a Schlumbergera truncata cultivar selected from the masses at our local garden centre last week. Never had much luck re-flowering these the following season for some reason, but hey here goes (again)!
I bought 3 (white, magenta and red) from my local Sainsbury's last Spring. They had been reduced from £3+ to just 50p each, good value I felt as they were only halfway through flowering. In late Spring the three plants were potted up into one bowl and a week or two later the bowl was placed outside in a place where it only got late afternoon sun. All three plants produced new buds in early October and the pot was brought in. The Plants flowered happily through October and I was amazed to find that the plants began to bud again in December. A number of flowers were produced and are still on show now.
I doubt that I'll get three flushes this year, but with any luck maybe two :gl:
Especially interested in Mesembs. small Aloes and South African miniatures and bulbs.

I must admit that this is not 'a splash'... the plant is rather massive with 150cm and hundreds of flowers every winter. In early flowerings we use the flower-bouquets as christmas deco... Crassula ovata, money-tree...

how's this for a pretty colour, it's Echeveria agavoides 'romeo', really should be called Juliet as it's a bit of a girly colour. I'm not sure how large it gets but this is in a 7" pan.
I was going to do a photo of my ebony but yet again it's been eaten by vine weevil grr, it must taste sweet, luckily it reroots after a while.

varied collection of succulents and cacti but I especially like Euphorbia's, Ariocarpus and variegated agaves.

I have yet to 'catch' this Melocactus in flower but it does produce nice seed pods!
Mainly cacti, with a preference for Mexican ones, but I'm flexible!

Melocactus
Into all sorts of exotic plants but with only having a conservatory I prefer to buy small young plants and miniature cacti.
