I'm really glad it wasn't me that started this, because I'd have really hard times to decide between the two of your pics 'Mr Lithos' :)

What happened ? Anthony you killed the thread. As I have said before, low mp.camera, hand held, not much thought.

On the other hand no-one wants to post their troughs of Lauii

What about
Alonso
Esparanza
Glass
Rowley

To name a few in common cultivation

Okay, a couple of my favourite gasterias.

Gasteria batesiana, named by Gordon Rowley in 1955 in honour of John Thomas Bates, that well known trolley bus conductor and avid collector of South African succulents

and Gasteria vlokii, named by Ernst van Jaarsveld in 1987 in honour of Jan Vlok, a South African botanist, forester and enviromental advisor, discoverer of this species

Hi Mike,

To complete your description ..... blackbeardiana, for Miss Gladys Blackbeard (1891-1975), gardener, nature lover and succulent enthusiast who lived near Grahamstown, South Africa.

Didn't know that. It does make more sense than Blackbeard the pirate, though. Thanks, Tony

My favourite plant: Leuchtenbergia principis. Described by Hooker in 1848 and named in honour Maximilian de Beauharnais the 3rd Duke of Leuchtenberg an amateur botanist and stepson of Napoleon with an excellent moustache. Despite only having a 6x4 greenhouse I've developed quite a fondness for them as can be shown by the small forest...

(I was hoping to post a flowering plant however the bud is growing painfully slow and June is almost over...)

I am going to pick MikeT as the winner, with one plant named after 3 people.
